The name of this family run company comes from the union of two family names: Rita van Gent (born in 1958) and Henk Danser (born in 1948).
Both Rita and Henk Danser van Gent come from families with a long tradition in the shipping industry, with a history stretching back ten generations.
The couple has five children: Hendrik Jan (1979), Benita (1981), Andries (1986), Martijn (1988) and Deborah (1990).
The three oldest children have already completed the maritime academy and are navigating the waterways. The two youngest are currently attending the academy and once they attain their diplomas, will join their siblings on board.
The children are the inspiration for this family business and the reason for its expansion through the building of new and bigger ships.
The names of these ships are formed from the names of Rita, her two daughters, and daughters-in-law.
These women are the foundation of this business.
Thus is the "Marietje Andrea" is named after Rita.
From the beginning this company has been chartered by Koninglijke Wagenborg, which has provided support during times of crisis.
The bonds between this company and Wagenborg are very strong!!
As they say, unity makes strength. The company not only provides work for the entire Danser van Gent family, it is also the hobby of all its members.
In 2010 Henk Danser will have sailed enthusiastically for 50 years, strengthened by Rita and the children.
Having sailed with a young crew all these years, the company has remained young and engergetic. And now, with the children on board, the company is assured a beautiful future.
